Plateau Digital builds professional websites and delivers local SEO for businesses across the Upper Cumberland. Premium work, fair prices, and someone local who actually picks up the phone.
We don't do social media management, logo design marathons, or whatever else the last agency tried to upsell you on. We build websites and we do SEO — because doing two things well beats doing twelve things adequately.
01
Websites
Fast, mobile-first, built to convert visitors into customers. Modern code under the hood. No page-builder bloat.
—Custom design tuned to your business, not a template.
—Mobile-first, sub-2-second load times.
—Copywriting included — we write the words too.
—Click-to-call, directions, forms, booking — whatever you need.
A good website isn't an expense — it's the first employee you hire that never calls in sick, never stops selling, and works 24 hours a day for a flat fee.

Website builds
Essentials
$1,500
one-time
A clean 5-page business site. Perfect for service businesses that need a professional web presence, fast.
Every site we build ships complete — real photos, real copy, real local SEO, real speed. Below: a fully-built sample website you can click through page by page, and a sample SEO audit you can download and read end to end.
Cumberland Comfort HVAC — a complete, working sample site.
A full Professional tier build for a fictional Cookeville HVAC contractor: click-to-call header, emergency banner, services grid, reviews, service-area map, FAQ, and booking form. This is exactly the build quality that ships on a real client project — you can click every link and see the whole site.
A 15-page local SEO audit that actually tells you what to do.
On-page findings with specific fixes. A prioritized keyword map. A 30-day content calendar. GBP checklist. Review response templates. No fluff, no filler, and no "improve your SEO" generic advice.
Four steps. No surprises, no moving goalposts, and no "well, that wasn't in scope" calls.
01
Discovery call
A 30-minute call (Zoom or phone, your pick) where we talk through your business, your customers, and what a successful outcome looks like. Free, no obligation.
02
Written proposal
Within 48 hours of the call, a short written proposal with a fixed price, clear scope, and a realistic timeline. If it's not the right fit, we'll say so.
03
Build + review
Websites take 2–4 weeks. SEO audits take 48 hours. Monthly retainers start the week you sign. You see work as it's made, not a month later.
04
Launch + support
We launch together and we don't disappear. 30 days of post-launch support on every website. SEO retainers stay month-to-month — no contracts, ever.
A typical Professional website · 3 to 4 weeks
Kickoff → launch
1Week 1
Discovery & sitemap
30-minute kickoff call. Service audit. Draft sitemap + copy outline in your inbox by Friday.
2Week 2
Design & first build
Homepage mockup mid-week. Full build on a staging URL by end of week. You see work as it's made.
3Week 3
Revisions & SEO setup
Two rounds of revisions. Google Business Profile, schema, sitemap, analytics, page-speed tuning.
4Week 4
Launch & handoff
Domain connected, SSL issued, files zipped and sent. 30-minute handoff call. 30 days of free support from there.
Essentials sites run 2 weeks (weeks 2 & 4 compressed). Advanced projects with e-commerce, booking, or integrations take 4–6 weeks. Delays, when they happen, are almost always waiting on content from the client — not from our end. We'll flag it early if something's drifting.
§06 — About
Built in the Upper Cumberland, for the Upper Cumberland.
Most agencies quoting Cookeville businesses are based in Nashville, Atlanta, or somewhere on the internet. They don't know that Crossville fills up every summer, that Algood runs almost entirely on referral, that Livingston trusts word-of-mouth over ad spend, that half the service calls in Putnam County start at an I-40 exit.
We do. Plateau Digital is on the Plateau — when you call, a neighbor picks up. We'll drive to your shop. We'll grab coffee at Ralph's Donuts or Poet's in the Square to kick off. Your customers are our customers — the people driving kids to Tenn Tech, the folks at Putnam County Fair, the neighbor whose HVAC quit on the coldest night of January.

Founder · Plateau Digital
"I built Plateau Digital because I watched too many Cookeville business owners get burned by out-of-town agencies selling templated websites and pretending to do SEO."
We're small on purpose. It lets us deliver real work and keep prices fair. When you hire Plateau Digital, you're working with me directly — kickoff to launch, every email, every revision. No account managers, no subcontractors, no ticket numbers.
If something needs attention after launch, you have my direct number and I actually pick up. That's the whole pitch: smaller agency, better work, neighbors serving neighbors.
No WordPress. No Wix. No page builders. Every Plateau site is written by hand and served from an enterprise CDN — which means pages load in under a second, plugins never break your site (there aren't any), and the platform you're on can't hold your website hostage.

The stack
Enterprise infrastructure, zero bloat.
FrontendHand-written HTML and CSS. No page-builder lock-in, no theme updates, no plugin conflicts — just clean code that lasts.
HostingEnterprise-grade global CDN with 99.99% uptime, automatic SSL certificates, and DDoS protection. Served from the network edge.
FormsSecure form handling with spam protection. Submissions land directly in your inbox — no dashboard to check, nothing to maintain.
AnalyticsPrivacy-respecting analytics — no third-party cookies, no GDPR banner, no data sold to advertisers. Clean traffic insights, that's it.
DomainRegistered in your name through an ICANN-accredited registrar. You retain full control, transfer rights, and renewal authority from day one.
The stack is deliberately simple because that's what makes it durable. WordPress sites need a plugin update every two weeks or they break or get hacked. Ours don't. Your site will still be running — fast, secure, unchanged — five years from now without touching anything.
What's yours
You own every piece of this.
Your domain, your name.
Registered under your business, through an ICANN-accredited registrar. You control the account, the renewal, and every record — always.
Hosting in your account.
Your site runs on an enterprise CDN billed to your business. Automatic SSL, DDoS protection, and 99.99% uptime — infrastructure at your level, not ours.
Full source on delivery.
Source files packaged and transferred at launch, with a written deploy guide. Any qualified developer can take it from there — there is no proprietary system.
Google Business Profile ownership.
Your profile stays registered to your business. We work as an added manager — never an owner — so access can be revoked in a single click.
Honest fit check
This isn't for everyone.
We say no to projects we aren't the right fit for — it saves everyone's time. Here's when that's us:
—You want a 50+ page site with blogs, portals, logins, and integrations. Those are real projects; they're just not ours.
—You need to edit the site yourself every day. Our sites are fast because they don't have a CMS. If you need a login to tweak copy daily, WordPress or Squarespace is a better fit.
—You're shopping on price alone. There's someone on Fiverr for $300. If that's the bar, take it — we'd rather not disappoint you.
—You need full ecommerce with 100+ SKUs, inventory sync, and variant options. Shopify is built for that — we'll point you there.
—You're hiring an agency to "guarantee page-one Google rankings." Anyone promising that is lying. Honest SEO is a slow, compounding game — and that's the only kind we do.
§08 — Common questions
Good questions get real answers.
Why not WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace?
Three honest reasons. One: speed. Page-builder sites load in 4–6 seconds; hand-coded sites load in under one. Google measures that, and so does every customer on a 4G signal. Two: maintenance. WordPress needs plugin updates every couple of weeks or it breaks or gets hacked. Ours doesn't — your site is served as static files from a CDN, not run through a database on every page load. Three: ownership. Most page-builder platforms charge a recurring subscription forever, and if you stop paying, the site disappears. Your Plateau site lives in your own infrastructure — no platform rent, no lock-in. If a page-builder fits your needs better, we'll tell you. Most established local businesses don't need that complexity.
How is this different from the $500 template sites I see advertised?
The $500 site is usually a WordPress template with your logo pasted in — same layout as the other 2,000 shops that bought the same template, same stock photos, same generic copy, no local SEO setup. It ranks on page 5 of Google forever. Our sites are written from scratch for your business: real copy about what you actually do, real local SEO (Google Business Profile optimization, schema, service-area pages), real speed. If you need a placeholder site that just says "we exist," a template is fine. If you want the site to actually bring in calls, it's not.
Do I actually own my website, or are you holding it hostage?
You own all of it — always. Domain in your name, hosting account in your name, source files zipped and handed to you at launch, Google Business Profile with you as owner and us as a manager. If we ever part ways, you change one password and remove one manager — done. This matters because most agencies register the domain in their own name and host on their own account; when you try to leave, you discover you don't actually control anything. That's not us.
What happens if you get hit by a bus, or just lose interest?
Fair question. Because your site is plain HTML on Netlify — not WordPress, not some proprietary platform — any web developer anywhere can take over in a day. The site keeps running whether we're involved or not; Netlify stays up, the domain stays pointed, and the code is yours. SEO retainer clients get their Google Business Profile fully documented so nothing lives in our heads. And because there's no monthly platform fee, even a fully unmaintained Plateau site will still serve customers five years from now.
Can I edit the site myself after it launches?
Short answer: small text edits, yes — we can walk you through updating copy in Netlify's built-in editor (it's like editing a Google Doc). Design changes, new pages, new sections — those are faster for us to do than for you to learn. For clients who want to keep changing things monthly, we offer a $99/mo care plan that covers unlimited small edits, hosting, SSL renewal, and monitoring. If you want a full "log in and edit everything" experience, Squarespace is honestly the right tool and we'll point you there with no hard feelings.
Are there long-term contracts?
No. Websites are flat-fee, one-time. SEO retainers are month-to-month — cancel anytime with a single email, 30 days' notice so nothing breaks. We think if you have to be locked in to keep working with us, we haven't earned it.
What if I don't like what you build?
Every project includes two full revision rounds at the design stage — where changes are cheapest — before we build anything. After that, we're building what you already signed off on. If we somehow get to launch and you genuinely don't want the site, we'll refund the remaining balance past the deposit and part ways cleanly. Hasn't happened yet, and we work hard to make sure it doesn't.
Can I keep my current website and hire you just for SEO?
Yes. SEO audits and monthly retainers work on any existing site — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, custom — as long as we have the access needed to make changes. If your current site is badly slowing you down, we'll tell you honestly in the audit and recommend fixes or a rebuild. No pressure either way.
What do I need to have ready before we start?
A list of the services you offer, any existing logo or brand assets (we can design a simple mark if you don't have one — included in Professional and above), a few photos of your work or your team (phone photos are fine; we'll help source stock if needed), your business contact info, and about an hour for a discovery call. Copywriting and SEO content are included on Professional and Advanced — you don't have to write anything yourself.
